Nine years after first posting him as Nigeria’s first Billionaire, Aliko Dangote, continues to remain on top as Nigeria and the world’s top black billionaire in 2017.  From

Dangote built his fortune trading in cement, sugar and flour but subsequently ventured into manufacturing these commodities. Nigeria’s Globacom Founder, Mike Adenuga, is third on the black billionaire list, while Nigerians Femi Otedola and Abdulsamad Rabiu have dropped from the ranks of billionaires this year due to oil and Naira devaluations, respectively.

Finally, on the list of the world’s 10 black billionaires is the only Nigerian woman, Folorunsho Alakija, in eighth, one spot and about $320 million ahead of American basketball icon, Michael Jordan, in ninth position.
