Nigeria: Teachers, soldiers strike actions dominate Nigerian media

Nigerian newspapers were this week dominated by the stri ke actions embarked upon by primary and secondary schools teachers early in the week and the Friday demonstration of soldiers who participated in the UN peace-ke e ping mission in Liberia.

The nation’s teachers, under the aegis of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), last week sounded a note of warning on the federal government through a warning strike action but the union and the government could not reach a compromise on the main issue of agitation – payment of a uniform Teachers’ Salary Scale (TSS) to th e teachers.
