I have no idea why Zuma is contesting. He had unprotected sex with someone he knew to be HIV-positive, and who was nearly a family member, and this is now public knowledge. What kind of an inspiring leader would he hope to be? What would it take to shame the Zumas of Africa out of public life? I respect the democratic opinion of the ANC members, but how a man like Zuma will command the confidence needed for his office is something we will all have to wait & see.

Going by what’s being read about Mr. Zuma, one is inclined to feel disappointed that he’s now poised to become the next leader of South Africa. With poor educational/intellectual background and a serious moral deficit, one cannot but fear that South Africa is about to begin a descend downhill socially, politically and economically, and if and when this happens, it will be another glaring evidence that Black people the world over just cannot preserve and enhance the quality of whatever gets into our hands. And this will no doubt further cement the bias of others against us that even if handed a ton of raw gold, all we’ll do with it is fabricate it into several buckets that are then used to deposit our faeces. The portends doesn’t seem to be good for South Africa with this unfortunate development.

Whether good or bad, this is democracy in action. The wish of the people and the rule of law must be obeyed. Good luck to the people of South Africa. Africa is back on its feet.
