    While religion toleration continues to be a challenge in Nigeria (both in the North and in the South where Christian fundamentalism is alarmingly on the rise), the credit for containing the sharia menace must go to Obasanjo. I personally didn’t think much of his apparent “siddon-dey-look” strategy at the time, but I think his approach probably worked better than anything else anybody could have tried.
