September 11, 2007 | 8 Comments

The way to give the people information is by the passage of the FOI (Free of Information Bill) into law. It is one of the keys to transparency and hence good governance.

Of Looters, Leaders And The EFCC List
July 13, 2009 | 7 Comments
However, I’d like to let Mrs Farida Waziri and the EFCC know that Nigerians are not impressed with this list of 56 mostly minor rogues (the names of such people as Olabode George, Orji Kalu, Iyabo Obasanjo, and some foreigners notwithstanding) stealing only N243 billion – less than £1 billion). There should be more important names on that list; the list is much longer and the amount is much, much more.

Nigerians, under the leadership these stakeholder groups question what government intends to do with the subsidies if withdrawn. Their concerns were largely informed by the sad practices experienced previously whereby, monies saved from subsidy withdrawal or reduction ended up looted by politicians, government officials and other rent-seekers in the corridors of power instead of using the money to provide paved roads, education and health care etc to the general public...

The Minister of State for Power, Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, has been reported by the media as confirming speculation that the Federal Government plans to increase the electricity tariff with effect from next month. The current tariff is N6 per kilowatt/hour.
