Ijaws in the Limelight!

EDWIN CLARK COMMENDS YORUBA, AGAGU

Ijaw National Leader and former Information Minister, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark has expressed satisfaction over the place of the Ijaws in the politics of Ondo State.

Besides, Clark said, Governor Olusegun Agagu deserves the support of every Ijaw man in the country, for what he described as the “height of generosity”. The foremost nationalist bared his mind in his Kiagbodo country home on Sunday while playing host to a delegation of political appointees as well as elected officials from the Ijaw speaking Ese-odo local Government Area of Ondo State. The delegation was led by the secretary to the Ondo State Government, Hon. D. I. Kekemeke.

His words:

“This is one of my happiest moments as an Ijaw man; that the Ijaw man is allowed to climb to the top in a predominantly Yoruba State not only tells volume of the generosity of the Yoruba people, most especially Governor Agagu, it also goes to show that the nature of relationship between the Ijaws who are is very insignificant minority and their Yoruba majority neighbours should be a case study to others in the Niger-Delta. The political place of the Ijaws in Ondo state which is in the south west, is far better than any others in the south-south except Bayelsa”.

“To those of us who have been in the politics of this nation for sometime, we know what it takes get the position of SSG for a people, these things don’t come on a platter if gold; in Nigeria, it is not all you earn or deserve that you get, but Agagu has demonstrated a very rare quality by placing our son as SSG as well as appointing several others in positions. The governor deserves the support and prayers of all right thinking Ijaws for him to continue to do these good things for our people in Ondo State”, Clark said.

In the delegation were; Mr. Ife Iji (Senior Special Assistant to the Gov. on Due Process). Bonsue Ominidougha (Special Assistant to the Gov. on Special Projects), Mr. Donald Ojogo (Press Secretary to the Governor), Hon. Kele Bolodeoku (Member, House of Assembly), Hon. Sunday Yayu (Chairman, Ese-odo Local Government) Hon. Corporal Nanaopiri (Commission 1. Local Government Service Commission), among others.
