Shehu Sani tackles Moslem
leaders over calls to boycott conference

A member of
the national political reforms conference representing civil society groups from
the northwest geopolitical zone, Shehu Sani, has reacted to calls by leaders of
the Supreme Council of Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) that northerners at the
conference should pull out.
Addressing
a press conference at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja on Tuesday, Sani accused the
protagonists of the boycott of organising subversive activities, which would not
be in the interest of peace, unity, and stability of democracy in the country.
Sani said
he and two other civil society representatives at the conference, representing
the north central and northeast, Idris Miliki Abdul and Idris Audu,
respectively, have dissociated themselves from the sentiments being expressed by
the SCSN.
